Title: oil vs water for wiping dust off silicone dolls
Post by: scrappy on April 30, 2022, 10:43:12 AM
My silicone dolls are dust magnets. I've tried a lot of different techniques to get the dust off. Now I'm wondering if I should try wiping the dust off with a paper towel wetted with either mineral or baby oil. I've tried a water-soaked sponge. But that mostly only pushes the dust around albeit making it easier to pick up the tiny dust bunnies with my fingers. Of course spraying with running water in the tub works fine but it's a PitA to lift a slippery wet doll out of the tub.

Silicone doll makers always recommend to not use oil on silicone dolls.....I'd try and find another method if you can.
Though I've used oil on my silicone dolls in a very limited way without problems, I'd still avoid it as much as possible. Silicone will absorb small amounts of the oil.

I've found that the occasional powdering with corn starch will help remove some of the dust.

Spray with warm clean water from a spray bottle. The spray should help dislodge the dust and allow you to pat it up. Pat dry (do not wipe) with a soft cloth such as microfiber ( as lint free as possible) . Repeat as often as necessary to obtain the desired result. This should be enough to take care of dust. Don't use oil .

I re-powder rather than wet wash most of the time.  I tend to be lazy...

Ive used Cum to wipe off Mistie but she needed a lot of it. I kept adding it over and over but it seemed to just make her feel dirty   :D :D just kidding.

I usually have great results with a normal good smelling body wash a luffa and warm water. For make up removal i have used 91% IPA but never have used it on the whole doll. Not sure it that will even help and there is more expertise out here that may know. Dust is a demon for sure.

Oil would be bad news. I would avoid it or well be talking about a whole different problem. Just gotta keep on trying my friend.
Much luck to ya!! DM
