I mentioned in chat last night that I was nervous since I hadn't heard anything from the seller of the DS145 I've been waiting on, it was past due.
As of this morning I have a UPS tracking number, label has been created.
Now it's try not to think about the horror stories of dolls being mishandled and groped (or worse) by handlers in the shipping industry.

She'll need some soaking for more stain removal seller did the head and it came clean.

The seller hasn't shipped yet. Says UPS didn't make the pick up window, blah blah. All I can do is wait and see what happens. I get the impression this guy lives hoof to mouth.

I'm told she shipped yesterday. Did reading up in the DS forum on 145's, it's been said that they are not 145 cm from heel to top of the head, but from the toe tips with the foot pointing down, oh well... weight is said to be about 50lbs. Probably one of the best dolls at the time. The house of Phil rests in quiet antici - pation....

Any updates? :oldman:
Only that UPS tracking says "On the way." Delivery Tuesday next week.
I am relieved, the seller seems to be a person of little means. Says he's living in a storm damaged house, no hot water, vehicle in dis repair. Always coming up short. Excuses, and more excuses...
Say's he had the original shipping box and the foam stuff, hopefully she will arrive whole and un molested.

There have been a lot of conspiracy theories on dolls molested during shipping, but I don't think I can remember a legitimate documented and supported claim. A groped doll during a customs exception is definitely a possibility but could hardly be considered "molested". I'm sure there may be a few valid cases over the thousands upon thousands of adult dolls shipped, but these would probably constitute the extremely rare exception. That is what shipping insurance is for. It would be interesting to see if any insurance claims have been based on "molestation" as opposed to regular shipping damage from mishandling.
I hope and suspect your doll will arrive in the exact same condition it was shipped. Looking forward to Tuesday and your update.

I bought a wig for the Kayla head, using Natalie for making the down sizing modifications. I think it gives her a Britany Spears vibe.

'Molestation' is 'in the eye' (and mind) of the observer based on their experience. I've had enough experiences where someone performed a not-doll-related service for me and fucked up that I am always suspicious. I've also had numerous experiences with people in low-paying jobs who just don't give a fuck.
Add to that the sex doll factor. The 'low lifes', and I have no compunction about calling them that, who work for the 'big shippers', UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS, would think it's fun and funny to open a package that they think (or KNOW because of how it's marked) contains any kind of sex toy and inspect or even play with what they find. 'Legitimate documented and supported claim'? Occam's Razor sez (sic) that just ain't going to happen. What shipping company is going to investigate a claim that 'your idiot guys opened my sex doll package'? What supervisor, responsible for an 'investigation' is going to take it seriously? Or are they just going to go out for beer with the 'perpetrators', laugh the whole thing off, and cover it up as would be trivially easy to do? I, for one, am not going to subject myself to the ridicule for the unlikely chance that I'd get some kind of satisfactory restitution.
I can think of six packages with dolls or doll heads inside them that I've had shipped to me.
One of the two packages handled by DHL was a 4woods doll head which was reclosed with tape that said it had been opened. Opened and inspected by 'customs'? What are the chances that the DHL guys themselves had some 'opened by customs' tape to reseal the package? There were suspicious stains inside the package. No, I didn't figure out a way to do a DNA test on the stains. And I didn't ship with DHL again, either.
The one package that was shipped by FedEx had clearly been opened and resealed because the original OEM packing tape (stupidly advertising that there was a sex doll in the package) had been cut. That package was also delivered to a wrong address and left at that address for an indeterminate time that could have been as long as two hours.
The first of my packages shipped by DHL had no indications of having been opened. The one package from Phoenix/Abyss and a second full-size doll from 4woods were both carefully sealed and shipped with Seko. I don't remember the circumstance of the sixth package, a Ruby head in a small, unmarked box. All together, one third of the packages in question arrived in 'suspicious' conditions and circumstances.

The "plug" that I made for adapting Natalie to the 145 has worked very well.

The DS neck required no modification to accommodate the spinner head, there's just a small gap at the back of the neck. which a wig conceals

The DS 145 bod gives her an authentic physiognomy like her namesake.

Wow! She's beautiful! 8)

Thanks Ceej, she's a welcome addition in the house of Phil, though Natalie is a bit jealous. I'm hoping she'll get over it.
Kayla has a bit of a musty odor from having been unprotected in long term storage. I am wondering if anything can be used to neutralize the mustyness? I'm thinking of trying lemon juice, or essential oils. The essential oils are organic, not petroleum, silicone being inert and non porous, shouldn't be a problem?

I think once Natalie realizes she's still loved, she'll be fine :)
I don't think that lemon juice would be a problem.
I know that Abyss used DeLimonene, an orange oil or orange turpentine to thin one part silicone to make a sealer when they made their dolls with tin cure silicone.
Technically, silicone is porous, just not nearly so much as TPE. I think that with time, the musty odor will eventually off gas out and fade.
Years ago I took Sandy out into my "toy shop" with me to keep me company while I ran a few antique engines. When I brought her back in the house, she smelled of exhaust. It was pretty bad too, but after a few days, that odor faded.
-
The odor seems to be fading. The silica micro spheres seem to have a lasting effect whereas cornstarch tends to wipe off, but like I said, it's a fine line, probably not with the price for most of us.
