Title: NASA Day of Remembrance
Post by: noquiexis on January 26, 2023, 11:33:06 AM

"Each January NASA pauses to honor members of the NASA family who lost their lives while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery, including the crews of Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia. In 2023, the Day of Remembrance will be observed on Jan. 26, and will also mark the upcoming 20th anniversary of the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia on Feb. 1, 2003."

It was January 27, 1967 when the Apollo 1 astronauts died from a fire in the capsule, on a routine test.

NASA learned from the tragedy, and moved forward, landing a man on the moon a mere 2 1/2 years later.

A testament to a generation that got things done.

I doubt that we could repeat a task like that again, in that short of a span.
