The SM is alive and well DM. While she wears that body well, CJ has determined that, we (meaning I ) could possibly do better. After all these years with her, I have learned not to argue . That never ends well. ???
So CJ convinced her to once again go inside the body masher ( yes I have one of those. Every insane amateur doll doctor has one) and see what comes out. Stay tuned for the gory details. :whistle:

Tami's face is not the original face for this doll. Her current face is an older Tin Cure face with a medium skin tone. I've never been smart enough to leave well enough alone as this thread is going to demonstrate quite well.
I bought the face from Reggie at Galmato a few years back only because Tami was my favorite of the classic faces back in the day. She came with no eyes, tongue and the wrong skin tone. What can possibly go wrong with this purchase besides everything? Well, this is what I am going to explore in this thread.
Yes , I'm going to go down the make-up rabbit hole and try to convert her from a medium skin to to a Tan. Then MAYBE seal it on so I'm not always having to touch it up. If I get good enough at it (make-up in general)I may not do this.
Ceej came by one day a while ago and made her up beautifully for me. But as we all know make up rubs off and now she needs doing again.

Tami with her new tongue and her lip colour sealed on. I decided that is going to be her permanent lip colour and that was done with silicone paint. I also replaced one of her eyelashes.

My hat's off to you for attempting this. This is definitely a challenge.
Your doing great! The only thing I can suggest, if you haven't done so already is watch some makeup tutorials on line and learn as much as you can, and experiement with different looks that you think you might like, before sealing it in.
I have very little experience with facial makeup, but if you think you may want an extra set of hands, you know where to get ahold of me :)

OK. So ever since CJ came back from Galmato Haven she has been on me about her eyes.Whilst she was there she was supposed to receive ,at the time, their creme de la creme hi realism eyes. However that all turned to sewage when the Abyss eye maker quit, got quit, resigned, turfed. Whatever happened , CJ was denied her baby blues.
Then one day years later in chat , Doll Master came to her rescue like a Knight on a gallant steed. Instead of wielding a sword he, (although he has been known to do so. just as Mistie) came wielding URL's.

Well, it took a while but she finally has her new,new eyes. These are the Camera ready premium eyes from Fourth Seal Studios. The white is toned down and much better in my opinion.

My SM 157G silicone body has suffered a split.
The same body that EJ's head is occupying right now. I had her sitting on a bench padded with pillows in the sitting position for about a month or so. I stood her up today and was going to do a few shots with her and found this.

Update.
I have received a digital sculpt of the body.
Overall I think they nailed the body perfectly. The model in real life is a thick girl and they did a good job of capturing that in the right places.
The only critique that I have is that the breasts appear a bit small. But not by much mind you. It depends on the pose. ( "Those tits are just too big" - No Man Ever.) ::) :whistle:
Maybe I'm a bit nit picky here, but since my obsession with this girl has delayed my retirement by 25 years, I want it to be right. ::)

Back in the 80's a lot of models would put their lipliner on in such a way that it goes past their natural lip line a little, making their lips appear fuller. And to me it does appear that the model's lips are done that way, where as the sculpt's lips follow what looks like what the model's natural lip line might be.

You are definitely right about the bangs and hair framing her face. My very first impression was that the nose is huge. But I think that is the way my computer monitor is set to display the lighting, colours and whatever. . I Transfer the picture over too my tablet and ran it through faceapp to apply the make up how I want it. On my tablet the nose looks fine. I guess once I get my eye on the actual head then I will know for sure.

Yeah, the makeup really makes a difference.
As you stated about the lipstick, I think if you did the upper lip like the model ,that would make another big difference. I'm going to see if I can figure out how do that with faceapp. :whistle:
I think if you gave Bronwen that head to makeup , you wouldn't be able to see a difference between the Doll head and the Model. ;D
OK. So, I posted earlier the first pics they came up with for the body sculpt. They nailed the overall body pretty well , but there were a few details I wasn't 100% on. So, after some more communication about the details, this is what they came up with .
The breasts were one issue. They were just a bit small and I asked them to tweak them a bit. Also the nipples were not true to the actual model.

I played around with faceapp for a while. It seems I can't thicken the upper lip much if at all. There is a lips modification menu but all that seems to do is darken the colour rather then actually thicken the lips.This was the best I could come up with.

I also tried changing the hair style with FA.No matter what I tried it would not open up the bangs on the forehead. So I can't change the way the hair is framing the face. ::)

I need to stop obsessing, but I wish I could nail down exactly what isn't right. They nailed the digital sculpt but something is slightly off in silicone. It's close but not quite there. I don't have an artists eye to be able to identify it.

That is one of the pics they sent me of the head. I have asked them to to do some makeup adjustments but that is the head. Overall It turned out well and I can live with it. But something is a bit off. ???

This is a very big investment for you, and I'm not just talking money. So while she's under development, this is the time to be absolutely sure everything is right. So it's perfectly natural and ok to obsess.

Personally, I think its pretty much all makeup, hair and lighting at this point. Also consider that we're comparing an almost un made up face, to one that is fully made up. Have a peek at before and after pics of women with and without their makeup and you'll see what I mean.
Here are a few subtleties with how the sclupt is originally displayed, that could be at play here:
Hair:
One thing that stands out is the sculpts head appears rounder, but this is strictly because of the bangs on the wig she's shown in, and not an issue with the sculpt.
Also the wig hides most of her eyebrows, which is also a big factor.
Once you put a wig on her that's closer to the model's, it will lengthen her head and reveal those eyebrows, making her look that much closer to the model!
I think this is going to make a HUGE difference here, because this will completely change the outline and shape of the sculpts head, making it like the model's

Makeup:
Personally, I think the thickness of the lips is right. What appears to be the biggest difference to me is the contour of her upper lip line. Looking close at the model's pics, I think the sculpt is right on to the model's natural lip line. The difference I see is in how the model is made up. Specifically the line from the center "divit" to the corner. It appears to be a straighter line on the model's lip liner than the sculpt.
At this point, I think this is very subtle now when looking at your last pics.

Lighting and makeup may have an effect here as well:
The width of the bridge and the tip of the nose of the sculpt might be a little wider than the model. If so, I think a little subtle shading with makeup will bring that closer to how the model's nose is made up.
To see what I'm thinking, have a peek at makeup videos where women use subtle shading to narrow their noses. And it may very well be that the model's makeup might also be done this way.
Again, at this point, I think this is pretty subtle when looking at your last pics.
Something else to consider,
As we have seen many times, no two doll heads of the same model number, turn out perfectly alike. Even if photos are sent in to have one copied. There's always some subtle differences in the makeup. The only way I've ever seen two doll heads of the same model number turn out as 100% perfect twins is if they are made, and made up at the same time by the same artist.
Also, do you have shots of the model from other photosets, especially where her makeup and hair are different. If so, compare those to the examples you show here. It's possible you might even see some noticeable differences there.
All in all, This is very cool and exciting! I will say this again because I think you are on the right track. Every step you made with your virtual makeup attempts brought your doll's head much closer and closer to the real model. Your just fine tuning the the sculpt the way a makeup artist fine tunes a model's morning face to her made up face.

I played with my photo edit program a little to see if I can change her hair. I have to apologize here as this is pretty rough, and flat. Blending skin tones and such by hand with photo eddit is not the easiest thing to do. But this may give you a little help visualizing her with the right wig on.

Okay, I think it's time for me to interject my two cents.
My very first impression was that the nose is huge.
That was my first thought too.
I think the nose is the main issue, but with very minuscule adjustments. The nose ridge is a fraction too wide and slightly too long giving it that "huge" impression. The philtrum (groove between the upper lip and nose) is a fraction too short. By shortening the vertical length of the nose and adding that amount to the philtrum I think that will make a difference without affecting the relationship between the eyes and the mouth which looks perfect.
The other thing that I see is the width of the jaw. It is slightly squarer in the sculpt versus more of a taper in the model.
We are talking of millimeters or fractions thereof for these adjustments. Maybe 1 mm narrower on each side for the jaw, shorten the nose and extend the philtrum by maybe 0.5 mm, and narrow the width of the nose ridge by maybe 0.5 mm.
Note: I used Canadian units of measure instead of normal ones out of respect for our northern compadres :P

I have got the makeup to the point where if they do the make up like this pic , it's close enough to the model that I will be over the moon. This makeup , I think , makes the nose appear slightly smaller from a Canookistanian
with one metric eye.
If it can't be adjusted with a BFH and a pair of vice grips, I'm kinda lost,eh? ::)

After some more review I still wasn't sold on her nether region. This was and is the final detail to be ironed out and now I am very happy with the sculpt.

The body sculpt is now fully and completely ironed out. I hope they get it right in silicone. ::)
Update on the head as well. Since I wasn't over the moon on how the head looked, they are remaking it. I don't know if they are changing the nose , or what. That was one of my critiques.
I was told the the factory strives for perfection and since I wasn't completely happy ,they went ahead on their own . I did not ask for them to remake it. This type of customer service is hard on the competition. :thumb:
I am supposed to receive pics of the new head this week. They are also going to correct the wig placement so the forehead is exposed as in the pictures .

So , I am accepting this head. I have pointed out the nose issue and am having a second head made. They seem to think they can modify the nose without going back to " modeling " as they call it. I also mentioned that I would like a closing eyelid
feature as well on the new head. I'm not sure where this is all going to go on the second one as of yet. :whistle:

I have a tracking number and it says Monday Sept 11 as expected delivery. :egyptian: I'm calling BS on this since Canada Post is the end carrier. One can dream though. :whistle:
They have air shipped the first head. The " first " is actually the first head redo with revised makeup.
They are working on the second head with closing eyes and possibly revised nose. Even if they don't nail the nose the closing eyes will be epic, if they get it right. 8)
They are trying as this is all new territory for them. They need to " experiment " is what I was told. ;)

The head is here. It was shipped from China on Sept 8. Arrived at my door Sept 12 in the late afternoon. Try that trick Abyss creations. :whistle:
The beauty of ordering from Chinese companies. The price you pay, is the price you pay. Here is what I mean by that.
Lets say I order a doll from Abyss and it's $6000.00 US. Being from Canookistan and in the Province of Ontario specifically, I'm going to bend over further with a current exchange rate of $1.38 CND.
Now all of a sudden this $6000.00 US doll is just short of $8300.00 Canookistan rubles, to start. Current shipping from Abyss ,TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT. NO FURTHER! Yes, after that you are on your own. $900.00 US. $1242.00 CND.
Now we are up to $9522.00 CND Just to hit the border. But wait,there's more!

2) You can circumvent " The Customs Witch " and pay an online customs broker to clear her and bust her out of jail for you. Usually to the tune of $100.00 to $150.00 CND. . Here you will pay the terminal handling fee, HST, duty, and the customs broker fee.$10959.86.
Now she can be released , but she isn't home yet. If you don't have the means to pick her up yourself , customs brokers can arrange for shipping from the airport to your home. Usually $100-200.00 CND.
GRAND TOTAL! $11159.86 CND approx.
Remember I said with the Chinese , the price you pay, is the price you pay? They like the US dollar. You pay the exchange rate. That is it. When they ship they usually pay the shipping and all of the other nonsense that goes with it. ;D

The doll has been sitting in a UPS warehouse in Mount Hope airport since Monday. Customs Jail.
On Wednesday I get a call from UPS. The message left was that additional information about my "package" was needed in order for it to clear through customs. What a fuckin' surprise. :whistle:
I call the number that was left. I left a message and the number I could be reached immediately at, any time of day. . Crickets. ::) In the mean time I E-mail Coeros about the shipping. They inform me that they have been in touch with UPS and will update me when they get a response. Crickets. :whistle:
I call UPS again this AM and speak with the customs broker. Apparently customs wants a proper description of what I bought and what I paid for it. ???
I had to send a copy of the invoice when I made the purchase to the customs broker . By the way, the description on the invoice clearly describes what I bought as "SEX DOLL." Not mannequin of even just doll. SEX DOLL. As if it could have no other purpose. ::) Yes, I will be banging the shit out of it ,if it ever gets here (Hopefully by an ice cream truck with the music blaring at 250 decibels and a flashing Jumbotron sign reading incoming fuck doll!) but that's not the point. :whistle:
I don't know if this was a random inspection or they didn't like the description on the commercial invoice. I'm thinking they didn't like the description. :whistle: By the way, the commercial invoice is completed by the sale entity . I have no way of knowing what they put on it as a description of the goods.
China being 12 hours ahead of us in the time zone thingy doesn't help matters much for responses either.

Well, here at Smoke's Laboratory, leaving things alone is not what I do. I generally fuck around with shit until it's either, no longer recognizable or it's acceptable. Well, this may fall into the acceptable column. :whistle:
Remember the unacceptable pussy my custom doll was shipped with? . Well step one was casting a new set of labia for her and basically gluing on to her Lady part spot. Slight improvement, but still not acceptable. ::)
Well, this part required a bit of silicone excavation to give her Kitty a bit more of a built in look. Acceptable? The jury is still out, but it's a step in the right direction. Further modification may still be needed. ???
