History of sex dolls
« on: November 20, 2021, 05:46:42 PM »
Talking in the chatroom today generated a couple of memories from Playboy in the 70s referring to Japan ...

Lifesize (1974) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070131/?ref_=ttls_li_tt
Protagonist gets a doll 'from Japan'. I think I saw a photo of the doll in an annual Playboy sex in cinema article.

Interview with Mel Brooks, February 1975 http://www.thestacksreader.com/mel-brooks-the-playboy-interview/
Mel says ''I understand in Japan, though, they make rubber people you can go to bed with. A whole rubber person, supposed to be sensational. Costs as much as a Toyota, but you can’t back up in it.''

I did some web searching but didn't find the answer to where did the Lifesize doll come from or what Mel knew about the 'rubber people'.

Perhaps one of us can buy

on the chance the answers are there.

Had a 'good' talk with Z in chat today, reminiscing about a site that I remembered and he might have as well. I finally got a round tuit.

https://web.archive.org/web/20001204144700/http://www.adulttoyreviews.com/dolls/index.html

'Collected', according to the wayback machine, Oct 18, 2000. Real Doll is listed.

There is a long text from a 1995 article about Orient which refers to a previous product in ... 1985!. Unfortunately, no photos :( So ..... WHO produced the 'first' full-size sex doll? (albeit latex and with removable limbs) ;)

Interestingly, adulttoyreviews is CURRENT

https://adulttoyreviews.com/dolls/index.html

as well as the 2000 version I found on the wayback machine. However, like Tabo-san's site, it hasn't been updated regularly. The last update to the Real Doll page was in 2002.

A page for superbabe was created in 2003: https://adulttoyreviews.com/dolls/sililvdl.html

More of a 'recent' history link, collected in 2013.

https://web.archive.org/web/20130525150518/http://www.blowmeupsexdolls.com/

The site featured actual photos of 'less expensive' dolls, mostly inflatables. The domain has since been reused. The wayback machine collected blowmeupsexdolls dozens of times and other snapshots may have photos of other dolls that were no longer represented in 2013.

I was hoping to find photos of the Selene Supreme semi-solid doll. But those are available elsewhere.

I had an inflatable. She stayed in a box in the closet through multiple unsatisfying relationships. I never became attached to it, because sex was completely unsatisfying, which is why I named her Boner-Killer.

Then this bitch showed up, stomped on her, and quietly sent her to the dump in an unmarked garbage bag. For me, that was the moment when dolls mattered.

She spent the next few years running off all my future girlfriends, by proving to me they were old, ugly, needy, and largely sexless. I had no choice but to accept her as my old lady, or accept my penis dying from neglect if I married a 4th time. Years later, I'm happy with that decision, even though she bites sometimes.
