In the quest to bring my new 1/6 Dolls up to my specifications, IE, long nails, high heels, and a little girl fur.
Ceej had suggested the fuzzy side of some velcro, it was ok, but I thought there must be another way.
I checked out a few 1/6 forums, and saw someone imbed the bristles of a brush into some glue, and trimmed the bristles, but that would be a bit tedious.
Then it hit me while flipping through ebay and seeing a 60’s throw back GI Joe with a head of fuzzy stubble to emulate a crew cut… Bingo !
I looked up the process of electrostatic flocking. A process of shaking electrically charged fibers so they fly straight in the direction of an anode.
This process is very popular with modelers to create grass in model railroads. Tons of videos on the process.
So…while doing further research on flocking, I picked up a battery operated flocker for about $25, and some different color flocking materials. The material was specifically sold as GI Joe restoration materials.
I used a teeny dab of silpoxy, applied with a cotton tipped makeup applicator, and used a brass ring as the anode, to surround the target area.
Without further ado, Taylah and Kaylah will show you their new pelts.
Taylah is sporting a GI Joe “rust” bush, and Kaylah, has a GI Joe “brown” bush.

And Kaylah…

There are still specks of flocking clinging to the Dolls that need to be cleaned up, but I’m very pleased with the results.
