used doll posts and truth - wtf?
« on: March 05, 2023, 12:32:07 PM »
Seen 'over there' this morning (two different used dolls) ...

''Medical grade TPE material.''

''She been sterilized with heat prior to storage!'' (Also looks like incorrect verb grammar to me. Sterilized should have been qualified either with 'has been' or 'was'.)

Could some of the local experts explain to me what this means.... What TPE is ever 'medical grade' and how is it used in medicine? How do you sterilize a sex doll with heat?

TPE used in a medical setting is IV catheters, tubes, just as a few examples.

Thanks for the answer. But that's just SCARY. I don't know what the manufacturers do to make TPE 'medical grade'. But as much as any TPE I've encountered leaches oil, I do NOT want that shit in my veins.

My guess would be that they mean that the TPE is body safe, meaning it will not be harmful to your body, should it come in contact with it.  Other rubber materials, like latex, can cause allergic reactions, and I have heard some blends of TPE can do the same.  I just thing that they want to reassure customers that TPE is body safe.

Interesting stuff! So, what is the difference in how 'medical grade' TPE is manufactured compared to 'doll grade' TPE? How much more expensive is the medical grade material? How would a doll buyer know (for sure) that they were getting the medical grade material? Other than for marketing purposes, why would a doll producer use medical grade TPE? How hard is medical grade TPE? Is it too rigid to make a squeezable doll (after all, one complaint about particular dolls for years has been 'hard as a rock')?
