Natalie's broken hip.

She fell a few weeks ago, the right hip froze, haven't been able to move the leg forward.  It will swing out to the side and backward, but not forward.  I cut into the hip, couldn't see anything.  Attempted to move it forward again and it gave way. 

The bolt was notched against the nut, but t moved and ws able to remove it.  The Bolt holding the base of the joint to the skeleton will not as yet move.  I messaged Patrick, he said he'd look around the shop for a spare hip joint.

Texting with Patrick the other day, say's he can send me the part I need to fix her hip.   I just have to get the other bolt and nut undone, that will be the hardest part of this operation.

Thanks!   looks like I'll have to grind the end of the bolt down to the nut having it be easier to  remove.  I can't tell what was done to it, maybe the touch of  a welder?  Looks too intense to have been peened, what do I know?

Managed to get the nut off of the bolt holding the base of the hip hinge, what a bite that was.  Patrick says he shipped the part today.  I'll never know what caused the hinge to fail other than the hinge itself was weak and under a lot of stress since the forward motion of the leg is facilitated by the base of the hinge piece rotating under the head of a high torqued bolt, WTF!

Sorry that this happened.

Yeah I think you're right that the original part failed by metal fatigue. You can see many stress cracks radiating from the bolt hole.
